Milwaukee County's 2024 Adoption Day brought families and community members together to celebrate the life-changing moment when 24 children were officially welcomed into their forever homes.
Seven Milwaukee County Courts took part in the special day, which was held in conjunction with National Adoption Day and National Adoption Awareness Month. Judges and court staff then joined the families and child welfare workers for fun activities and lunch at the Big Back Yard.
The courtrooms were filled with smiles, tears, and applause as families shared transformative milestones. The day emphasized the critical role of adoption and foster care, with many children coming from the foster system. It also served as a reminder of the ongoing need for foster parents to support the children in Wisconsin who need care.
"Seeing children join their forever families is a powerful moment for all involved," said Milwaukee County Deputy Chief Judge Jane Carroll. "It reinforces the importance of community and reminds us of the significant role we all play in creating a brighter future for these young lives."
