Hon. Larry L. Jeske
Oconto County Circuit Court

The Honorable Larry L. Jeske, former Oconto County Circuit Court Judge, passed away on December 15 at the age of 84.

A graduate of Shawano High School, Larry earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his law degree from Marquette University. His legal career spanned decades, including 12 years as a judge and 17 additional years as the attorney for the City of Oconto Falls. He was also deeply involved in community service, mentoring young people as a Boy Scout leader and hunter’s safety instructor.

Appointed to his judgeship in 1993, Judge Jeske managed a heavy caseload as Oconto County’s sole Judge until a second judicial branch was established in 1998. Among his accomplishments was the creation of the Volunteers in Probation (VIP) program, which paired volunteers with low-risk probationers to provide mentorship and supervision.

Judge Jeske’s capacity to collaborate effectively with various branches of government, along with his diplomatic leadership, has made a significant and enduring contribution to the judicial system of Oconto County.
