Judicial Security Profile implementation update

Judicial security

The Planning and Policy Advisory Committee Court Security Subcommittee is nearing completion of a critical update to the Judicial Security Profile in compliance with Wis. Stat. § 19.36 (16). The revised form was approved during the subcommittee’s most recent meeting, and the subcommittee is working with the Director of State Courts on finalization.

Once finalized, this updated profile will be promoted across Wisconsin’s judicial network, encouraging judges to complete it and ensuring those responsible for the document’s safekeeping are reminded of its strict confidentiality protocols. Tailored communication efforts will reach judges, court commissioners, municipal judges, reserve judges, and tribal judges. Outreach efforts will also engage Chief Judges, District Court Administrators, and members of the Badger State Sheriffs’ Association and the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association, all of whom will play a role in supporting the utilization of the updated profile form.

To further emphasize the importance of security, the profile’s release will also be incorporated into judicial security training, with a special focus on fostering strong partnerships between judicial officials and local law enforcement. This updated approach is expected to enhance overall security and ensure that law enforcement agencies are well-prepared to handle safety issues impacting court officials within their local communities.
