Statement of Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson on the passing of Judge John Shabaz

John Shabaz was Minority Leader of the Wisconsin Assembly when I became a justice of the Supreme Court in the 1970s. He impressed me as a skilled legislator who ably represented his Waukesha-area district for nearly two decades before his appointment to the U.S. District Court. As a federal judge, John Shabaz was a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the State will not soon be forgotten. My thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family at this difficult time.
