Milwaukee County Circuit Court launches eFiling program April 2
Madison, Wisconsin - March 30, 2012
On April 2, Milwaukee County Circuit Court will join 16 other Wisconsin counties in offering eFiling, an online system that allows attorneys and parties to electronically file new cases and documents in certain case types.
"eFiling is the wave of the future for court systems in Wisconsin," said Milwaukee County Clerk of Circuit Court John Barrett. "It also offers potential savings to taxpayers in lower storage costs and other related processing costs," Barrett said.
eFiling, offers increased accessibility, convenience and security to litigants, clerks and judges. The first phase of the project in Milwaukee County will include civil, family and small claims case types, Barrett announced in a press release.
Wisconsin's eFiling system was developed by the Consolidated Court Automation Program (CCAP) after the Wisconsin Supreme Court approved statutory guidelines under Wis. Stat. § 801.17. The state court system's website offers an online demonstration of how to register for and to use eFiling.
"There is no better time to start participating in the eFiling process and take advantage of the fast, secure filing, the ease of use and cost efficiency and the reliable access to case files and documents," Barrett said.
