A file new case button now appears in the navigation bar at the top of the website, which allows a new case filing to be created.
Users can now file documents to their existing cases from the home page, in addition to their My Cases page.
The Wisconsin Circuit Court Electronic Filing System will be updated on the evening of Monday, September 23, 2024. The website will be enhanced to simplify the electronic filing process with a streamlined interface. The site will provide more intuitive paths to file new cases, file documents on existing cases, and locate case information. Additionally, helpful guidance and links to resources, such as the court system’s Self-Help Law Center, have been added throughout the site.
Information on the improvements to the site are below.
A file new case button now appears in the navigation bar at the top of the website, which allows a new case filing to be created.
Users can now file documents to their existing cases from the home page, in addition to their My Cases page.
A new payment needed button is available for users who need to complete a payment for any unpaid filings. This button is located next to the ready to file button in the navigation bar. Filings are available to complete payment one hour after the filing is submitted to the county without payment. Filings will expire after 48 hours without payment.
The Filings in need of payment page lists the expiration date and time for each unpaid filing.
The new case filing process has been upgraded to communicate required party and filing document information. On the Parties page, messages inform the user what required party type(s) are needed for the case type and class code selected.
On the Documents page, a message informs the user what required document types are needed for the case type and class code selected.
The opt in page now communicates how to proceed when a party being opted into is a pro se (self-represented) user.
