Order addresses process for filing documents in the Supreme Court, effective July 1

Madison, Wisconsin - June 15, 2021

The Wisconsin Supreme Court today issued an order establishing requirements applicable to filing documents in the Supreme Court, beginning July 1, 2021, and continuing until mandatory electronic filing begins in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court is in the process of implementing a phased transition to electronic filing in the appellate courts of Wisconsin. Mandatory electronic filing will begin in the Court of Appeals on July 1, 2021. The Supreme Court has not set a date to begin mandatory eFiling for proceedings in the Supreme Court. The order authorizes continuation of the eFiling pilot project for the purpose of further refining and testing the eFiling system in the Supreme Court.

Many of the requirements associated with filing multiple copies of paper documents will be eliminated when eFiling becomes mandatory in the Court of Appeals on July 1, 2021. The interim rules also provide the necessary directions for paper documents filed in the Supreme Court until mandatory electronic filing commences in the Supreme Court.

A copy of the order, including the revised interim rule, can be found here.
