Welcome from the Chief Justice
Dear Friend,

Welcome to the Wisconsin court system. Our courts work for the 5.7 million people who call Wisconsin home.
Perhaps you are visiting because you are involved in a case or have been called to serve on a jury. Maybe you are considering representing yourself in court, and want to learn more about what will be required of you. Or you might be visiting us to view a court record on WCCA, the circuit court access system that responds to nearly 3 million inquiries every day. Whatever the reason for your visit, you are welcome here.
Our courts exist not for the lawyers and the judges but for the people of this great state - individuals, businesses, government officials and organizations who file more than one million cases in our circuit courts each year. Each case is unique, but the litigants agree on one thing: they want a judge who is fair, impartial, neutral, independent and non-partisan. These are the qualities of an independent judiciary
The Wisconsin courts do not work for special interests, associations, advocacy groups or political parties of any kind, pro- or anti-anything. We work for you - the people of the state. You are the "all" in "Justice for all." Thank you for visiting.
Sincerely yours,
Shirley S. Abrahamson
