In the matter of the Creation of a Court Rule Governing Electronic Filing in the Circuit Courts

On December 6, 2006, A. John Voelker, Director of State Courts, filed a petition asking this court to create a new rule implementing electronic filing in the Wisconsin circuit courts, and on December 21, 2007, the petitioner filed an amended petition which reflects programming changes necessitated by budget considerations. By order dated January 4, 2008, this court scheduled a public hearing and open court conference on the amended petition for April 8, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., and further directed that notice of the hearing be given by publishing a copy of the order and the amended petition in an official publication of the State Bar of Wisconsin and by single publication in the official state newspaper.

The requirement of publication in an official publication of the State Bar of Wisconsin has been satisfied. However, the amended petition proposes changes to the rules that may affect pleading, practice and procedure. Accordingly, a copy of this order and of the amended petition will also be published in the official state newspaper once each week for three consecutive weeks. Wis. Stat. § 751.12(3); Wis. Stat. § 985.07. Therefore,

IT IS ORDERED that additional notice of the hearing be given by publication of a copy of this order and of the amended petition in the official state newspaper once each week for three consecutive weeks.
