On December 15, 2014, the Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR), by OLR Director Keith Sellen, filed this rule petition asking the court to amend several supreme court rules to afford the OLR more discretion in disciplinary matters, specifically when deciding whether to initiate formal investigations and how to dispose of grievances upon completion of an investigation, thereby enabling the OLR to prioritize matters involving harm.  The OLR asserts that the petition is proposed in response to concerns expressed by this court in recent opinions that the OLR should exercise more discretion in cases of de minimus violations.

IT IS ORDERED that a public hearing on the petition shall be held in the Supreme Court Room in the State Capitol, Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday, September 21, 2015, at 9:00 a.m.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the court's conference in the matter shall be held promptly following the public hearing.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that notice of the hearing be given by a publication of a copy of this order and of the petition in the official state newspaper once each week for three consecutive weeks, and in an official publication of the State Bar of Wisconsin not more than 60 days nor less than 30 days before the date of the hearing.

Dated at Madison, Wisconsin, this 7th day of July, 2015.
