Ceremonial investiture set for Court of Appeals judge

Madison, Wisconsin - April 13, 2007

A ceremony celebrating the investiture of Judge Burneatta "Burnie" L. Bridge was held at the state Capitol Friday, April 13. Bridge officially took office on January 12.

Gov. Jim Doyle, who appointed Bridge to serve on the District IV Court of Appeals, was among featured speakers and dignitaries at the ceremony held in the Senate Chambers.

Judge Margaret Vergeront, also a District IV Court of Appeals Judge, administered the oath of office. A number of Supreme Court Justices, Court of Appeals’ judges and cabinet secretaries attended.

Bridge, 58, becomes the sixth female judge to serve on the Court of Appeals, which was created in 1978.

Before being appointed, Bridge served as an administrator in the state Department of Health and Human Services, chair of the Public Service Commission, Deputy Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General.
