State of the Judiciary Address set for Wednesday

Madison, Wisconsin - November 1, 2011

Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson will give her 2011 State of the Judiciary Address on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 9:15 a.m. at the Chula Vista Resort, Wisconsin Dells. The Chief Justice's speech opens the 2011 Meeting of the Wisconsin Judicial Conference, a gathering of most of the state's circuit and appellate court judges.

The address, titled Without Fear or Favor, will examine how to preserve core values to ensure that the Wisconsin judiciary remains fair, neutral, impartial and non-partisan.

Director of State Courts A. John Voelker will give the annual State of the Director's Office presentation immediately following the Chief Justice's speech.

The text of the chief justice's remarks will be available on the Wisconsin court system Web site, www.wicourts.gov, by 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Media are welcome to cover these presentations.
