First phase of Effective Justice Strategies report available

Madison, Wisconsin - August 14, 2007

The Supreme Court Planning and Policy Advisory Committee's Effective Justice Strategies Subcommittee presented its Phase I report to the committee on August 9.

The report outlines insights and recommendations on “effective justice strategies.” Interest in effective justice strategies in Wisconsin has been driven by fiscal concerns, incarceration rates, recidivism rates and other signs that indicate a lack of success in the current methods of dealing with the underlying problems resulting in criminal behavior.

As many of these issues come to light in courtrooms, communities naturally look to judges and the courts to play a role in effectively addressing such problems. View the full report Adobe PDF at the “Effective Justice Strategies” Web site, which also includes a Wisconsin problem-solving court and criminal justice council directory.
