Opinions and dispositional orders

Opinions are released by the end of the September-June session. On the day of release, they are available at approximately 8:30 a.m. CST. Opinions released since September 1995 are available on this site. Dispositional orders are decisions the court ordered published in official reports, but are in a format different than opinions. Dispositional orders released since July 1995 can be accessed on this site.

Disposition tables

Disposition tables list actions taken on petitions for review, petitions to bypass certifications, motions for reconsideration and attorney medical incapacity matters. These tables are updated approximately six times per year and are also printed in the official reports.

Rules

Rules are updated as changes are approved by the Supreme Court.

A petition to the Supreme Court to create a new rule or to change an existing rule must be filed with a supporting memorandum and cover sheet.

Pending rules petitions and court orders setting hearings on petitions for changes in rules and state statutes covering pleading, practice and procedure, as well as court orders setting forth the court's decision on previously heard rules are also available.

Oral arguments

Most cases accepted for review by the Supreme Court are presented in oral argument. During oral argument each side has approximately 30 minutes to present its case to the justices.  

The Court hears oral arguments from September through June. These proceedings are held in the Supreme Court Hearing Room in the State Capitol in Madison, unless otherwise noted on the schedule.
